Make sure you get the best venue you can

Planning a wedding is so involved that reflecting on everything that went into it is a bit of an exercise; we're all surprised at the amount of resolve we had to make sure it went off without a hitch. The longer we've been doing this, the longer we see some patterns assert themselves throughout everyone's planning. There is a fairly standard method as to how exactly a bride and groom (or bride and bride/groom and groom) execute the organization of their big day.

You aren't surprised at the first step in planning

The proposal! Of course, we're considering that's already taken place; without it, where would we be? A majority of couples first vendor is the venue they will be getting married at. This makes all kinds of sense when you think about it. No matter who you are, you have developed some kind of budget for your wedding. It's what you feel is attainable and you are comfortable you will have the wedding of your dreams. Often the largest expense a couple will have is the venue; rentals, liquor licenses and the food - the food!- When you have settled on a venue you will have a very good understanding of exactly how much money you will have for other vendors - in order of booking (typically, not always):

  1. Venue (includes food)
  2. Photographer and/or videographer
  3. Music (DJ or Band)
  4. Rentals (chair covers, decorations, etc)
  5. Flowers
  6. Cake

If venues are so important, why are you left alone?

There isn't a ton of information online regarding the different wedding venues located within Halifax. There are many venues you may have never even heard of. As the years go by and the amount of times we have shot at these different venues increases we started thinking, "Why isn't there a de facto wedding venue guide for these couples trying to plan something so huge?!" Of course, The Coast has a guide, and it's in depth, but it lacks perspective.

The ultimate wedding venue guide - Halifax Edition

We're taking matters into our own hands! That's it. Sometimes you need to look at the big picture and see the big picture. All the brides and grooms of this beautiful province have given us so much over the years, it's our turn to give back! We're going to be offering a detailed review of every single wedding venue we can get our hands on. A photographers perspective of a venue from a wedding day. This seems like a slam dunk and I can't wait to start it!

Stay tuned!hal
