Halifax at Night
Paige & Colin, what a beautiful couple! It's shoots like this that we feel so blessed to be doing what we love! The weather (for those of you who aren't, or haven't been living in Nova Scotia) has been horrific since about.... October of last year! We had a terrible winter with a storm literally every Wednesday, followed by a rainy rainy spring! In fact it's raining right now as I type this. The engagement shoot was tricky to coordinate, Colin works out West and is only back for stretches, so we needed to nail a date when he was back AND the weather was nice. We got lucky! In photography the 'golden hour' is the time of day about 1 hour before the sun rises or sets. The light is just a perfect cast of yellow/orange/red and the shadows are so flattering. Paige wanted to start the shoot at Conrads beach out past Lawrence town, we are from the South Shore so it was new territory for us. We started with some shots along the board walk and made our way to the beach for an impromptu picnic complete with candles & some bubbly water! Water shots at the beach can really make a session pop, we had asked Paige and Colin beforehand if they would be willing to get their feet wet, they agreed and we made our way into the ocean! I don't think you can tell by looking at the photos but the water was icy! In fact I think all of us were hardly able to walk back to the beach our feet were so numb but the photos made it worthwhile! Halifax at Night, is their any city more beautiful? The lights, the boats, the water, it's a dream. We were in front of Murphys were we sneakily made our way down the dock and got some shots right on the harbour. It was great, after we walked around the back to get some shots of the skyline in the background we noticed that a function was taking place in the restaurant! We had about 100 spectators watching the shoot unfold and Paige & Colin handled it like two seasoned models, a prequel to the wedding day! Two beautiful people made this session so easy, congrats to the both of you!
